A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Carbonized Records have unleashed the debut EP ‘Fleshworks’ by Canadian Death/Grind quartet Bodyrot on a cassette only release.

A slow brooding guitar tone and a methodical drumming style leads into opening track ‘Body… Reclaimed’ before being replaced by rampaging riffs and brutal Old School Death Metal drumming. A duelling vocal style of ferocious deep growling and a rawer almost shrieked style compete for supremacy whilst the rest of the band hammer out uber-aggressive vulgarity with just a  hint of groove.

This is only a very short four track demo but with the carnage wreaking mayhem of ‘To the Bog’ it is certainly quick to make its point. Moments of Death Metal rhythm are quick to appear but equally are shattered just as fast by raucous Grind Beastiality, and this back and forth style sets the tone for the whole demo whose seven minutes fly by in a haze of vitriolic haze and repugnant sounding riffs and growls.
