Åndutsyn – The Epitome Of The End Of The Cavernous Forestry [Demo]

Åndutsyn – the epitome of the end of the cavernous forestry [demo]

Info

The Black Metal act Åndutsyn is another musical entity run by Sceadugenga, who might be known best for his work with Geheimnisvoll but also has a few other musical endeavours to keep himself busy. With Åndutsyn he already released a self-titled demo tape and a split with Helm, both released by Nithstang Productions, the same underground label that also brings forth this third Åndutsyn effort, this time released in a limited run of 66 copies.

Admittedly, I haven’t heard all of Sceadugenga’s work, but from what I have managed to wrap my head around, Åndutsyn sounds distinctly different. This is utterly primitive, Punk-vibed Black Metal, all the way in the same line of bands like Ildjarn and Bone Awl. It is clear that the aim for Åndutsyn was to bring Black Metal to its most naked and bareboned core, cranking out barbaric riffs in an inimitable power and pureness. Although the ambiance and inspiration seems less focussed on nature, like Ildjarn, it seems much more in line with Bone Awl that is mostly known for its hateful and destructive approach. Yet, Åndutsyn seems to mainly have focussed on the bleak end of life, the loneliness and darkness. And that is something that he tremendously succeeded in, the coarse Lo-Fi hate is mercilessly and savagely spit in your face. It is the noise, the deep and impenetrable Black Noise, that creeps under your skin to make darken even the brightest spring day. If you have a weak spot for the aforementioned Ildjarn and Bone Awl or the roughest Akitsa recordings, then Åndutsyn could considered being your next stop.
