Feral – From the Mortuary [EP]

Info

Feral is one of my favourite bands, I admit. Their second album (“Where Dead Dreams Dwell”), released in 2015 by Cyclone Empire was one of those albums that I had to listen to as soon as that amazing artwork went through my eyes. It was, definitely, one of those albums where you could “judge the book by its cover” because the music was so great. So, it went straight into my personal top10 of the year. “Why would your top10 list matter to me?”, you’re probably asking… Well, nothing, really. But you should check the album anyway. 2016 will finally see new music from the Swedish band, in the form of a 24-minute, six-track EP (released on December 2nd, 2016). If I wasn’t familiar with their previous work and I saw the cover for this new EP on some magazine or website, I would have the same reaction I did with their 2015 full length, because it is, once again, amazing (made by Costin Chioreanu)! And, of course, the music still fits perfectly with the quality level of the EP’s cover. The four new tracks included on this EP is a perfect continuation of “Where Dead Dreams Dwell”, clearly establishing Feral as an underground Death Metal band everyone should put their eyes (and ears) into, especially if you’re a fan of bands like Entombed, Bloodbath, Grave and Revolting. The instrumentals are very solid, the songwritting is very good and the vocals are one of the best nowadays. As a bonus, there’s also a re-recording of “Necrofilthiac” (a track originally included on the official “Afterparty Massacre” movie soundtrack, released in 2011) plus a great cover-version of Pentagram’s “Relentless”.
