Like an Everflowing Stream’. Dismember. Those two words haunt my head when I hear this fine album from Avulsed. Our Spanish rotten minds recorded these 12 bloodstained Death Metal tracks at the fairly unknown Spacelab Studio in Germany. I’ve read that Ancient Rites recorded ‘Fatherland’ there as well.
They have slightly shifted their sound toward a more melodic yet still immensely brutal, almost Swedish style. The main difference with the Swedes is that the guitar tone sounds cleaner, perhaps the touch of James Murphy, who mixed the album. And of course, Dave Rotten’s grunt is far more guttural than your typical Swedish vocalist. It all comes together on one of my personal favourites, ‘Nice Rotting Eyes’.
