Info

‘Dwalingen’ is a short 7″ EP (two tracks) by the Dutch Black/undeath Metal collective Bezwering (Dutch for Incantation), released in 2025. The music focuses on raw, mid-tempo-driven Black Metal with alternating clean vocals and abrasive screams, a dark production and a strong atmosphere-oriented concept that refers to local occult stories from the Gueldrian area. Bezwering rose from the ashes of Wederganger. The band is not new, they released 2 full-length albums on Ván Records. Both releases were reviewed by VM-Underground.

Musically it is raw, mid-tempo Black Metal with an occult/pagan slant; occasional accelerations with tremolo riffing and blast beats. Synths are sporadic; the production is dark and somewhat muddy, matching the “undead” aesthetic.

Vocalwise it is a combination of clean, almost pagan-like vocals (Ulver, Isengard come to mind) and high Black Metal screams; dynamics between melody and roughness.

Themes evolve around German/Dutch mythology, death, madness, local occult stories from the Gueldrian lore; images of mist, horses, callings and loss of reason. Conceptual focus on wanderings and occult encounters.

I can see why Nomad Snakepit released this EP: the music is pretty strong, murky and grim with a powerful contrast between clean theatrical vocals and raw screams.

A must-have for all collectors and fans of this music!
