A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

The Finnish/Dutch Black Metal collective released an EP in 2021, which features a Dutch version of the title track alongside an Ulver cover (‘Hymne VIII – Wolf and the Night’), the final song from the magnificent ‘Nattens Madrigal’ album, and an outro. The English version of ‘At the Crack of Dawn’ is present on the subsequent album, ‘Into Dawnless Realms’.

The title track begins with an Immortal-esque riff, similar to ‘Unsilent Storms in the North Abyss’, which recurs throughout the song. This track is also infused with symphonic moments reminiscent of Emperor’s ‘Anthems at the Welkin at Dusk’. The Ulver cover has been given its own unique touch and is, without a doubt, well-executed with good production, so don’t expect the sharp guitar sound of the original.

All in all, this is a fine appetiser for ‘Into Dawnless Realms’.
