A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

I received a question from Gabriel of Nihilistic Holocaust; if I’m interested in reviewing a demo tape filled with Old School Death Metal? Are spareribs delicious…? Of course I am! Trenchrot, TrenchRot or Trench Rot, still not sure which of those is the right name, are driving their battle tanks from the USA and the members have previous experience in the Sludge scene. Their new formed band is all about Old School Death Metal in the vein of Bolt Thrower, Asphyx and some riffs as well as d-beat influences from the Swedish scene, without the famous sound. Bolt Thrower because of the groove and Asphyx (“The Rack”) because of the slow doom parts like during “Trapped under Treats”. Vocal wise we have another Martin van Drunen worshipper in the house, but it fits the deranged music perfectly, before we all get “copy-cat” bitchin’ again. As they said themselves, Trenchrot is about 2 things: Play Death Metal and crush posers. Well, mission accomplished as it is a more than enjoyable demo. And it seems I’m not the only one, as they are already signed by Unspeakable Axe Records (a sub imprint of Dark Descent) for their debut full-length. Still, kudos towards Nihilistic Holocaust to keep the ancient flame of demotapes burning! (Ricardo)
