When Zwarte Dood enters the room, the temperature drops down to a chilly atmosphere and the stench of the decayed enters the nostrils. The Black Metal presented on this release is a combination of both ‘Van Kain’s zaad’ and ‘Voor zijn glorie’ demos which were released by Signal Rex back in 2018.
With mentioning Signal Rex, the devotees know enough, Zwarte Dood can be found in the “Raw Black Metal” category in the record shop. You will hear noisy, bleak and raw Black Metal in a rehearsal mode in the first part of the compilation or as their own statement: “Pure Unfiltered Misanthropic Hatred in Honour of Death and Darkness!”. With the second part, the second demo, the statement still stands but got “in a Romanticist way” added to it. Less noise sort of speak.
Besides Zwarte Dood’s own work, there are also 2 covers on it: Ildjarn’s ‘Natt og tåke’ and Thorn’s ‘Ærie Descent’, and it is no surprise concerning the first one as Ildjarn was a huge influence on these 2 demos.
Black Metal Purists know enough, others should check out a couple of songs out to decide if they can cope with the rawness of Zwarte Dood.
