A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Out of a series of three reissues demo/rehearsal tapes of one of Finland’s best kept secrets, Witchcraft, comes this second tape: ‘Ghastly Demonolatria’. Which was, just like the other two, released in only a few copies by the band themselves, after which the Spanish label Down With The Most High opted for a re-release of the three of them on professionally duplicated tapes.

This particular tape was recorded in September 2019 in their own Witchcraft Temple and shows the band in all its raw and murky beauty. Rather messy and with their focus on the oppressing atmosphere and utterly chaotic riffs, drums and vocals they do evoke an ambience of pure evil darkness. Shitloads of reverb and an ultimately raw rehearsal sound finishes the tape that breathes the very essentials of their Black Metal aesthetics. This way it nears the impurity of Beherit’s most iconic early releases as well as that of Archgoat, making Witchcraft all so very Finnish, without sounding like your next Satanic Warmaster inspired band. If you are not all too scared and enjoy dredging through a layer of muck, check out these three new Witchcraft tapes.
