A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Originally released in only a handful of copies and spread early on in 2022, this rehearsal demo is the first of three of such demos that were reissued by the Spanish Down With The Most High label.

This rehearsal set, which clocks around 14 minutes and includes an gloomy and spooky sounding intro and outro, was recorded at the band’s own Witchcraft Temple, back in April 2015. And, anyone who is remotely familiar with Witchcraft knows what to expect from a rehearsal tape of these Finnish grandmasters of evil and furious chaos. If your ‘regular’ Witchcraft already sounds rather unpolished, you’ll add a full-blown rehearsal ambiance and sound and you basically have the perfect picture in mind of what this recording sounds like. Trimming it down to its violently evil core, the music might best be described as Beherit meets Mortuary Drape, purely demonic vocals with an insane amount of reverb on them and a guitar sound that sounds as authentic as it gets. The drums, by the way, are almost completely tucked away in the murky sound, which is essentially dominated by the guitars and the very loud vocals. This might not be to everyone’s liking, but if you are into bands like Proclamation, Archgoat, Abysmal Lord, Goatlord, early Beherit or anything that has a similar crude and unrefined sound, you shouldn’t pass this one up.
