Nocuous Lust – Demo [Demo]

nocuous lust – demo [demo]

Info

Sometimes very little words are needed, or they can even take some of the magic away. That must have been the way of thinking of this newly found duo called Nocuous Lust. Not beating around the bush, the debut with a 5-track demo simply titled ‘Demo’. And, yes, no words are needed to already get the connoisseurs of the most depraved kind of Black/Death Metal excited, a white/red/black cover with some demons will have the very same effect.

As the band name may suggest, this duo indeed brings you nothing but sinful delicacies. In just over 15 minutes they are bludgeoning their way through a set of tracks that has absolutely zero to do with anything that requires finesse or otherwise a good taste or manners. On the very contrary, even. Nocuous Lust rules their kingdom with chaos and senseless savagery, going from utterly simple chainsawing guitars and a menacingly slow pace to thunderous whirlwinds of impenetrable turmoil. But, while the lads sometimes seem to completely loose control in their mission to evoke monsters and demons, it offers a stark contrast to the slower parts in which they are remarkably groovy. Not only that, but in some specific parts they show that this noisy matter is not just to disguise a lack of talent – take a listen to the start of ‘II’ (yes, that’s the second track), where they present you some outstanding technical Death Metal lead work that reminded me of early Necrowretch. Yet another positive factor is the guitar sound, which is not extremely low for a change, but gives enough space to actually hear the riffs, something that for me again connects to those early recordings of Necrowretch (or the Horrendous demo as well).

If you still needed a little more direction or musical reference, think of it as a dynamic but deafening hybrid between old Imprecation, Demoncy and Necrowretch. But surely those rattling, ferocious bursts, whammy leads and rabid roaring vocals give ‘Demo’ the charm of the whole “demo” phenomenon. In other words, the roughness we are presented with will certainly not please everyone, but it definitely conjured a smile from ear to ear on my face. I love this!
