Underground force Morbid Moon Records comes forth with a great split 7” EP featuring two of the best underground metal acts of today, Greek band Nocturnal Vomit and Polish hordes Bestial Raids share this great piece of black wax.
It has been some time since I heard Nocturnal Vomit’s 2003 demo-tape “Infernal Ascension Of The Gods”, but it still was fresh in my mind that this Greek band had that same spirit that was all around back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, on basically every demo-tape or 7” EP. Now this Greek band share a vinyl and presents two new tracks of their brand of old school death metal with hints of black and thrash metal. I remember their label promoting them as a breed between Morbid Angel and Nunslaughter, which is rather fitting. Add a bit of Incantation, Immolation and perhaps some old school Dutch death metal like Pentacle or Asphyx and you’ll come rather close on this one.
The other side features Poland’s Bestial Raids, their approach to extreme metal is more on the black/death chaos side of things. Bands like Beherit, Sarcofago and Blasphemy spring to mind within only second of their first track on their side, “The Last Communion”. With a production that sounds very muddy and a barking voice it is sometimes not too easy making out the guitar tunes, but it is all the nostalgia and honest love for extreme metal that does the trick for Bestial Raids.
This split 7” EP comes in only 500 hand numbered copies and with a poster/infosheet (or insert, whatever you like to call it). This whole package breathes all very much the mid to late 80’s and early 90’s extreme metal. And I am so very fond of that stuff, total support for this label and these bands!
