For many years, Mons Veneris has kept the band’s members anonymous. In photos, you only see two demons conspiring in the shadows, but I believe they’ve had several collaborators who have contributed to the band’s long and prolific discography. Perhaps we can find some of those collaborators in the bands of the black circle to which they belong, who knows…
The many demos, many splits, several full albums over the years, are synonymous with will and a beastly perseverance! This 43 and a half minute ascent through the draconian abyss is full of different ideas and musical nuances. Some of these musical nuances don’t belong to traditional Black Metal, but they have been vomited with great precision, completely obscured, and they oscillate from psychedelic madness to the most irascible Black Metal beat. The word intensity is linked to depth and it is remarkable how many good musicians there are behind the whole cloak of occultism and mystery. The different projected voices are what surprises me the most, from that operatic nuance of an Attila with elongated screams like shadows in a cave, hypnotic monastery chants and even some falsettos like the final seconds of ‘Wispherers of the Plague’…Total madness!!
There’s a sense of primitive naturalness caged in the instrumentally well-executed music, as if the essence of evil were contained in a vessel, but with that uneasy feeling that at some point everything will explode. ‘Chant to the Unknown’, more than a final track, could pass for an outro in itself. This song, being the shortest of the entire work, didn’t require the multiple vocalizations that its predecessors had, although there are some scattered voices, to become a good closing of the door to the abyss.
With this work, Mons Veneris continues to strengthen their sound and what they want to show the world: their twisted and unorthodox way of making Black Metal with several elements outside the black path but under a strong conviction enthroned and praised on the mountain of reverence to Satanism!
