A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

From Finland came the bold idea to pack four tracks into nearly 60 minutes, with the longest piece spanning almost 19 minutes. Categorised as Progressive Black Metal, you can naturally extend songs as much as you like, though they prefer the label ‘Blackened Progressive Metal’.

Personally, I still find it a challenging genre; no matter how musically ingenious it is, you can get lost in a sea of artistic ideas that win over a few devotees while most listeners are waiting for a song with a proper structure, a clear beginning and end. By choosing ‘Blackened Progressive Metal’, these Finns don’t restrict themselves to Black Metal alone, as you also hear Death Metal, galloping Rock, and dreamy guitars.

Once again, it’s a difficult genre, but Crimson Dimension manages to make something of it.
