A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Orfvs from Finland have released a demo and an 7” EP in the beginning of its existence, both released in 2010 and 2011. After those years of silence took place in the headquarters of Orfvs, maybe because Profundiis, responsible for the drums, synths and vocals on this EP, was musically involved with acts like Funerary Bell and Blood Red Fog.

The Black Metal Orfvs is spreading is one of the mid 90’s kind with moments of mid- and up-tempo riffs and melodies. With the use of the typical synths in the vein of that era I dare to say this is a well done combination of the their own Finnish scene with Dimmu Borgir’s “Stormblåst”, without comparing the Black Metal of Orfvs to the level of that particular album.

Nonetheless, “Ceremony of Darkness” is without any doubt an enjoyable EP for anyone who enjoyed the melodic side of the mid-90s Scandinavian Black Metal. (Ricardo)
