Info

NOLA based Death Metal merchants Congealed Putrescence have returned with a new four track EP, and this time they come with label backing. Caligari Records have picked up this release and are giving it a grisly looking cassette offering, and there are no surprises there after the bands debut demo was such a hit with the baying Death Metal masses. This time around the band have lost a little bit of the roughness from the edges of their sound, and the guitar leads and bass tones have been progressed to include a great deal more groove than what was showcased on their debut demo. Bassist/Vocalist Steven Hendricks still viciously barks out his lyrics with gnashing aplomb, and there is an urgency to the flow of this EP that suggests a higher level of malevolence than before. The most marked progressions though come in the form of the increased level of musicianship from all members of the band, and a slightly cleaner production level, though still with a pleasing amount of murk and gloom to it. Mostly though this EP like the demo before it is simply punishing, rampaging aggression.
