When you are considered as the first Black Metal band from Norway by some or at least be a part of the debate of it, having the moniker “666” isn’t rocket science, is it? Not having recorded any studio material, all recordings heard on this compilation are live ones and performed between June and December 1982. The short lived 666 ended it all in 1983.
Is it Black Metal? It is 1982, these are guys who left their Punk combo to start a Motörhead meets punkish’ Venom act to sing about “666”, “Lucifer” and “Alkohol”. But for me these guys are more Motörhead Punk and Rock than Venom-like “Witching Hour” or “Buried Alive”.
But you can’t deny history, so let’s say they have paved the satanic road for others to walk on to create the foundation we now know as Black Metal.
