God Disease – Apocalyptic Doom

god disease – apocalyptic doom

Info

‘Apocalyptic Doom’ is the title of Finnish band God Disease’s slow moving new opus that will be upon us in Mid March through Gruesome Records. This marks the bands second full length album though they are far from new comers, plying their trade thus far for over a decade. The trio (Who include amongst their ranks Ilkka Johannes Laaksonen on vocals whose new Ashen Tomb project are very much to be experienced) do nothing to re-invent the wheel on their latest chapter, but instead lay out six tracks of high quality Death/Doom with all of the speed and velocity of global warming. So in essence ‘Apocalyptic Doom’ lays out everything you’d expect from such an album; towering riffs that crash down from a great height over and over again, a methodical and sturdy drumming style that is bolstered by unswerving, rumbling bass tones, and a series of guitar melodies given the space and freedom to explore slowly forward in a series of enjoyable, bleak and plodding forays that on the odd occasion tempt the drums into a faster pace, just to warm you up a bit. On top of that the vocals are a steady, unrelenting drawl of furious growls. So all is on order for this album. nothing massively spectacular but an enjoyable album none the less of Old School sounding Death/Doom that is crafted well on the forges of old.
