I imagine the vocals will probably make or break ‘Fire & Sulfur’ for some people at first listen. Exorcised mix low rumbling gutturals with these goblin like, squeaky sharp shrieks that provide a really grotesque flavor to. They have that demonic, hellish sound and it fits them well.
Musically this album offers a lot for those who enjoy Possessed or early Deicide style Death/Thrash. The riffs have a certain fast ferocity, and even though this has that old school feel it doesn’t quite sound dated in the slightest. There’s more than enough disorder in the songs to keep you interested. Even the guitars get some time in the spotlight. I can tell you the solo in ‘Pit of Filth’ caught my ear especially!
Overall this is actually pretty good considering that this is a full length debut. ‘Fire & Sulfur’ isn’t going to revolutionize any part of Death/Thrash, but Exorcised brings the personality on the vocals and the hellish atmosphere to keep it from sounding stale. It may take some time to adjust to the shrieks, but for those who enjoy a vile, hellish, old school Death Metal with a hell of a Thrash punch, listen to this one.
