A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Denmark is one of those locations people tend to forget when mentioning Black Metal that drifts a bit from the norm. Ildskaer, Seidr, Denial of God, and Angantyr, are some of the names that are known outside Danish boarders. Some on the traditional side, some risk slightly more.

‘Stormvasel” is the band’s first release and is an impressive display of Black Metal mastery. The band was able to capture the essence of the first days of the 2nd wave of Black Metal and retain that sensation of horror and fear. Pulsating riffs and medieval melodies make this one of the best releases in recent years. The vocals are thundering and ferocious, cutting forth through the listener’s mind. The guitars emanate medieval melodic melodies, reminiscent of Ancient Folk traditions. Take, for example, the 4th track, ‘Ulvelist”: it has this tremendous bass line, an audible bass! Besides that, it carries an old melody, an homage to ancient times!

This is perfect Black Metal, in my modest opinion. It has melody, strength and rage, piercing vocals, and superb guitar riffs. Overall, the band offers a very creative and mature Demo, a feeling that will be present in their follow-up, ‘Hvor Natten ej med Dagen Sjifter”.
