A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

You know Mark Riddick? The illustration guy who is responsible for quite some awesome gory and old school artwork and logos? For those who are familiar with his illustrations only, he also has been or is still active in a couple of bands. Macabra is one of them, of which he is responsible for all the instruments. And thanks to the internet and all kind of digital tools, the vocals of Adrien Weber (Vociferian) (In the Craig Pillard in his Incantation days-vein) are merged together with the Old school Death Metal songs of Riddick. Unpolished and uncompromising Old School Death Metal. You really have to focus on “Unpolished” for this one, like the demos of the end 1980s. Think of last demo/first full length of Autopsy, Death and Asphyx. The keyboard which is occasionally used on tracks like “Hominal Peel Diggers”, gives it a Asphyx “Embrace the Death” vibe (like the intro on that great album). At the end it’s fair to say it was a fun listen, but not a stunning album. Still the rawness is appealing…(Ricardo)
