Urzamoth – Dragonchild [Demo]

urzamoth – dragonchild [demo]

Info

Belgian Urzamoth was founded in 1999, and the band’s intention has always been to combine Heavy Metal influences with Black Metal influences. The band has just released their first CDemo of five songs called ‘Dragonchild’. Some might know them from their first encounter on the 20 Year Tribute to Overdrive (not the Swedish Heavy Metal band, yet a Belgian radio show) where they donated already ‘Sword of Destiny’.

This demo has a good sound yet what music can you expect? Well, expect something between the eighties German Thrash and the modern Swedish melodic Black Metal. The songs are performed at high speed, we all know the speed monsters like Dark Funeral and Marduk, so we could speak of a mix of Black/Thrash.

Three of the five songs are on this promo; ‘Sword of Destiny’, ‘Seal of Immortality’ and ‘Dagger of Faith’. All very well performed, yet not very much a renewal to the scene and I hope they will diverse the song material a bit more in the coming future; otherwise they might end up like fellow country men Enthroned; not real bad music, but after listening to it a while you’ve heard enough and that would be a shame. I experienced this again this afternoon when I saw Enthroned with Primordial and Rotting Christ.

Their lyrics are all about a llegend of the wizard Urzath (who is the Dragonchild), and this is part I of the story; so more must follow! In other words, once more a band that works on the basis of a concept.

If you are into Black/Thrash; why not give it a chance? The demo costs €7,50 (excl. p&p). And perhaps you could also react if you are a bass player, as Nosferat/Benny Vanhoute has just left the band…
