A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Thyrgrim already released a handful of albums during their career, always standing strong as bearers of the past. A not forgotten black metal movement, where black metal was more than fashion and experiments (for the latter I disagree a bit). The Germans continue to explore their territories in old fashioned black metal with pagan influences (musically and lyrically). Sometimes it`s freezing cold, with a portion of anger and misanthropy, in other parts it is more a dramatic story been told with beautiful melodies transporting the listener into pagan vastlands. They don`t want you to explore new landscapes, but show you more of the old stories that might have been forgotten by humankind. The more tenacious, melancholic songs and parts are the strong moments here, where breakable emotions collapse over the listener and where winter`s depression frozens one`s heart forever (an absolute highlight in the middle of the record). The album continues that way, alternating between heavy melodic hymns and rapid-fire artillery to spread the pagan fire. German steel, heavy and strong,. Well crafted, top! (DPF)
