Info

Gore Brigade are from Sweden and ‘Gore Brigade’ is their debut release. Here we have three guys who are active in many other bands: Jon Skare on drums, Ludvig Johansson on guitars and the vocalist Jonny Pettersson who is also active in Heads for the Dead and Berzerker Legion.

This EP offers six tunes for less than 15 minutes of Swedish Death Metal of the best quality. The beginning is set by ‘March of the Gore Brigade’ (some S.O.D influence probably) which is a mid-tempo song which shows a mix of heavy yet melodic guitar riffs and the low/high vocals of Jonny Pettersson. ‘A Wretched Taste’ follows and it is a true headbanger in the best traditions of Dismember and Entombed.

Next track ‘An Army of the Re-Animated’ has a certain Hypocrisy vibe (from their more melodic times) with groovy guitar leads and a shifting tempo changes. ‘World Wide Death’ is another intensive headbanger with lots of blastbeats, followed by ‘Show Me the Gore’ which is more of a mid-tempo track with a strong chorus. The end comes with the raging ‘The Rot Becomes You’ which is a tune in the best traditions of At The Gates.

Gore Brigade’s debut EP is another very good examle of the ever-prolific Swedish Death Metal scene. Hopefully we will hear more from them in the future but in the meantime enjoy this remarkable EP.
