With even more delay than our fanzine…and yes, that’s possible, the new Consolation is finally out. Was this CD worth the wait?? Absolutely!
Where Consolation mainly played Death/Grind on the previous CD, other influences have crept into their music on this CD. These also provide more variety. For example, at the beginning of the opening track ‘Fireblade’, you think you’re listening to a new Fear Factory track. However, when the band starts banging, you know it’s Consolation after all.
‘Stahlplaat’ contains 14 tracks, some of which also have quite a few Black Metal influences. I already knew the grinding track ‘Killjoy’ from the Smells like team spirit 2 compilation, and the only track that really differs is ‘Camel song’, which is more of an alternative song that gradually turns into a Death Metal track.
The CD booklet also looks very well cared for, there’s even a concept story (about Sgt. PP Le Bon, who is also mentioned in the fun ending of the Nembrionic CD) incorporated into the lyrics. The only downside to this awesome album is the distortion on the vocals, but that’s a matter of taste.
People who like Extreme Metal can buy this album blindly.
