The fine label Carrion Chalice, which gave us Sepulcherous and remains largely shrouded in mystery, except for being a sub-label of the USA-based Solitary Night Collective, has released this three-track demo from Concussed.

The production on this demo is suitably raw, which perfectly complements the style of Death Metal being presented. From the start, one is reminded of Death’s ‘Scream Bloody Gore’, and Morgoth’s ‘The Eternal Fall’, as well as Obituary’s ‘Slowly we Rot’, thanks to the raspy vocals. Compared to Obituary, the vocals here are buried slightly deeper in the mix.

The riffs and varied tempos, combined with the grimy sound, make this demo a prime example of how to capture the late 80s and early 90s old-school spirit in 2026 without descending into gimmickry or parody. Or trying too hard.

I am, quite simply, impressed.
