A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Hexorcist and Invictus Productions announce new album: “This album is a portal back to when Death Metal was at its most violent recklessness.”

January 8, 2026

Invictus Productions is extremely pleased to announce the forthcoming brand new album ‘Crucifial Imprecations’ from Florida Death Metal horde Hexorcist!

The album is a timeless reflection on the essence of Death Metal, firmly steeped in the mid to late 80s of the genre’s nascent extremity!
Invictus will also be reissuing the debut Hexorcist full length, Evil Reaping Death, with bonus material alongside the new album. Both albums will be available on vinyl and CD formats.

Gene Palubicki from Hexorcist says of the new record;

“This album is a portal back to when Death Metal was at its most violent recklessness. It is like channeling everything of the dark speed, Thrash, Death from 30 years ago and making it rage again today. Prepare for total punishment!”

Estimated release date spring 2026.

Hating Life announces debut EP ‘Revenge From Beyond’ via Pulverised Records: “The first Grave material was and remains a clear exponent of the kind of Death Metal that truly motivated me to compose the tracks for this.”

January 6, 2026

If you know your Death Metal history, you are then well aware that ‘Hating Life’ stands for one of Grave earliest and gnarliest demo days classics, later on rerecorded on their immortal debut ‘Into The Grave’, later on once again used as the title of their fourth full-length, back in 1996. So when a brand new entity proudly waving an Old-School Death Metal flag and bearing the same name seemingly creeps out of nowhere, you’re entitled to except the same kind of Hm-2 drenched, tribute-in-disguise and downtuned Death Metal innit? Well, for the time being, the answer would be yes. And no at the same time.

Not so hidden behind the whole thing is Santi, guitar player and founding member of Ataraxy, one of Spain’s most respected and relentless Old-School Death Metal outfits since 2008. “The whole process was very spontaneous, the result of me jamming with a Gibson Les Paul and a Hm-2 pedal and ending up soon with great riffs, melodies and plenty of ideas. With Ataraxy having now a very specific personality, it felt great to rediscover Primitive Death Metal roots.” Describing Hating Life overall sound as “putrid and raw”, he doesn’t deny the obvious Grave nod, especially since the opening track/intro of their debut recording is simply called ‘Into The Grave’. “You can call it a tribute or a declaration of intent. The first Grave material was and remains a clear exponent, among many others, of the kind of Death Metal that truly motivated me to compose the tracks for this.”

While he handles here all the instruments, Santi asked his Ataraxy comrade Javi to take care of both the lyrical content and vocals. The duo, or ‘band’ if you ask Santi, very first release ‘Revenge From Beyond’ was recorded in between his home-studio and the rehearsal room, to keep it as natural as possible, with Santi taking care of both the recording and mixing process.

Before you complain about another band pretending its 1991 all over again, the man denies any foolish attempt to travel back in time. “In fact, although our main influences are bands from the late 80s and early 90s, there are also current bands that we like and influence us in a certain way. We are simply two guys who are passionate about Death Metal and how death, human barbarism, and violence are all reflected in it.”

From “Into The Grave” to ‘Revenge From Beyond’, all in the name of Death Fuckin’ Metal!

Ildisposed’s demo set to be re-released by Into It Records: “We’re travelling back to the early days of the Danish death metal with one of the forerunners of that scene.”

January 2, 2026

We’re travelling back to the early days of the Danish Death Metal with one of the forerunners of that scene.

‘The Winter Of Our Discontempt’ demo (1992) delivers heavy and catchy Death Metal, packed with crushing riffs and at the centre of it all the beastly vocals of singer Bo. This is the demo that landed them a recorddeal, resulting in the killer debut ‘Four Depressive Seasons’!

Release is set for February…enter the winter, witness the origins!

Into It Records announced re-release of Sorcery’s ‘Rivers of the Dead’ on tape: “This is a vital piece of Swedish Death Metal history…”

December 29, 2025

One of the oldest Swedish Death Metal recordings returns to the surface. Originally released as a 7″ on Thrash Records, the 2 tracks on ‘Rivers of the Dead’ show Sorcery fully embracing Death Metal after the previous more Thrash-oriented demos.

This is a vital piece of Swedish Death Metal history, ready to be heard again!

Hail Svensk Döds Metall!

Suicidal Winds and WolfKult Religion join forces for new album: “‘In The Fire 666’ is a celebration of the familiar Black/Thrash Metal style, but above all it is the ultimate tribute to Fredrik Andersson.”

October 23, 2025

Perhaps a day that many thought would never come, but ultimately this is a day when passion and perseverance prevail. After an absence of more than a decade in which the band faced many setbacks, Suicidal Winds is ready and back with a new album that will be released at the end of 2025 via WolfKult Religion.

‘In The Fire 666’ is a celebration of the familiar Black/Thrash Metal style, but above all it is the ultimate tribute to Fredrik Andersson, the band’s bassist who passed away in 2023. This new album had been ready for some time and contains Fredrik’s last songs and recordings.

The core members, guitarists Peter and Mathias comment:
“We met Fredrik at school in 1990/1991, though our musical journey together started in 1999 with Axis Powers, our Death Metal band at the time, but he would shortly join Suicidal Winds in which he grew as one of the main song writers. He wrote the basis for 7 out of the total of 11 songs, he really knew how to put a song together and had a great taste in music. So, it feels fantastic to finally release ‘In The Fire 666’ as a tribute to him. Fredrik was a great friend, band mate and a terrific person. Rest in peace, we will always miss you!”

WolfKult Religion adds:
“As a fan since somewhere in the early 2000s, it is an honour for me to be part of what can be called the return of Suicidal Winds. It is a band that I have always appreciated musically, but also admired for their perseverance and handling of setbacks. After the loss of their friend Fredrik, the band understandably took a break, but Peter and Mathias are still full of fire, passion and ambition. This is just a new beginning that leads into the fire. 666!”

October 22, 2025

It’s the return of the Swedish Black Death…Soulseller Records are proud to announce the signing of In Aeternum!

Founded in the early nineties, In Aeternum stormed for many years with 4 full length albums, several EP’s and extensive tours before going in to hibernation for an indefinite time. Now the band has been resurrected, is stronger than ever and a brand new album has been recorded with the same line up from 20 years ago!

Titled ‘…of Death and Fire’, the new studio album will be released early 2026 and it promises to be a true ripper for all the disciples of Black Death Metal! More details will be revealed very soon.

The band states: “In Aeternum are proud to collaborate with Soulseller Records. After 20 years we have come full circle and recorded a brutal new album with the same line up we had back in 2005. We have poured our blood sweat and tears in to this album, our souls are in every word and sound. This marks the beginning of something dark and sinister.”

Let ‘…Of Death and Fire’ take you on a journey. Hail darkness, hail death, hail fire.

Gravetaker and Iron Bonehead Productions announces new album ‘Sheer Lunacy’ “Taking inspiration from Soulside Journey-era Darkthrone and Katharsis among other things, the band drag Death Metal back to its ambitious and obscure roots…”

October 22, 2025

Iron Bonehead Productions is proud to present Gravetaker’s striking debut album, ‘Sheer Lunacy’, on vinyl Lp format.

Finland’s Gravetaker are a duo of Lunatik and Atavistic Mouth. Taking inspiration from ‘Soulside Journey’-era Darkthrone and Katharsis among other things, the band drag Death Metal back to its ambitious and obscure roots with their first recording, ‘Sheer Lunacy’. With five tracks clocking over 35 minutes, each song has taken a form of its own, fully realized but effectively part of a greater (w)hole. From mesmerizing acoustic intros to divebombs casting their screams over blastbeats, crazed hysteria to somber fields and back again, all wrapped in a swirling-yet-mossy recording, ‘Sheer Lunacy’ is hard to categorize in any specific subgenre popular to this age and day; Gravetaker would be violently antagonistic if they actually cared about the nowadays scene. A true testament to a schizophrenic approach to songwriting and wielding true Metal of Death, Iron Bonehead now makes this archaic tome available on vinyl for full analog possession.

Fulgorious team up with Wolfkult Religion to release demo cassette: “In case you need a tasty and well-crafted fix of Nordic Black Metal tradionalism, don’t look further. “

October 21, 2025

WolfKult Religion presents the debut demo of Fulgorious, a celebration of classic Second Wave Black Metal from Ecuador.

In case you need a tasty and well-crafted fix of Nordic Black Metal tradionalism, don’t look further. This is the stuff that will appeal to fans of early Darkthrone, Armagedda, Sargeist, Urgehal, Carpathian Forest, Satanic Warmaster, Gorgoroth and early Dødheimsgard. In short: Total Black Metal Cult!

The tapes are already en route to me, so they will shortly be added to the shop. Don’t sleep on this one!

Wolfkult Religion ready to release Goatcorpse / Gotthammer split: “If you want atmosphere, keyboards or melodies… you’d better look elsewhere.”

October 17, 2025

After a bit of rescheduling, the vinyl version of the Goatcorpse/Gotthammer split is being pressed as we speak – the covers already arrived. This split of relentless and utterly unrefined savagery will be available in both limited red and standard pitch black vinyl.

Those who still need an explanation: these American and Canadian bands pay homage to the brutal kind of Black/Death Metal, first spawned by Blasphemy, Beherit and early Impaled Nazarene and further cultivated by such genre stalwarts of Black Witchery, Conqueror, Proclamation, Sadomator and Teitanblood. If you want atmosphere, keyboards or melodies… you’d better look elsewhere.
Estimated time of arrival: soon!

Wolfkult Religion to release split 7″ of Countess and Wrok: “I admire their stoic approach and dedication to what Black Metal used to stand for.”

October 8, 2025

Currently in the works with a clear aim of being finished by the end of this year, or at least before both bands hit the road for a couple of shows together:
Countess / Wrok – “Geknecht Door De Dood” – Split 7″

Both bands shouldn’t need any introduction I suppose, especially not for those who are either around long enough or for them who like to dig deep.

As for a lot of Dutch people, Countess has a special place for me too. Not only are they amongst the longest running Black Metal bands from The Netherlands, I admire their stoic approach and dedication to what Black Metal used to stand for. With having never sold their soul and loyalty to the music, labels and people around them, it is nothing short of an honour to work with them on such a great release.

With a demo of a true underground classic status like ‘Ontgravenis’, released back in 1996, it was hard to imagine how the band would sound some two decades later. Yet, with Wrok’s return in 2017 they showed that none of their initial filth and anger was lost. Albeit, sounding different from their split partner, Wrok definitely completes this split 7″ EP in commendable fashion, making ‘Geknecht Door De Dood’ a true celebration of Dutch underground Black Metal.
