Severe Torture – Bloodletting [Compilation]

severe torture – bloodletting [compilation]

Info

Three years ago. That’s the last time Severe Torture released something, namely their second album ‘Misanthropic Carnage’. In the meantime the band took on a second guitar player and wrote an entire album that is due to be released this year. It’s said before and I’ll say it again: this ‘Bloodletting’ album is not the new Severe Torture album! It’s a live album with extra’s. The live recording is from the Fee Metal festival they did in Aarhus in Denmark May last year. Then there’s a cover from Dutch death metal pioneers Pestilence and their first, only and sold out demo has been remastered and put on this album as well, by popular demand, sort of speak.

The live recording has been recorded over the FoH table (PA), so expect a good sound. I don’t think this recording was meant to serve as an official live album, as there probably weren’t any microphones on stage aimed at the crowd, so you’ll hear very litle of them, which would have been nice. Nevertheless the recording is pure and is very representable for the solid live machine that Severe Torture is. It also gives a view on their material over the years, as all releases are represent. The Pestilence cover is executed very good (and a tad bit faster then the original, heheh) and on this track vocalist Dennis proves he can do more with his voice then plain ‘ole grunting, little Mameli. And then the ”Baptized’ demo, that wasn’t available anymore, but now is once again. Check out our demo section for more news on that one, in case you want to.

It turned out to be a cool album. I’m personally not a big fan of live albums, but this one sounds pretty good, and with the bonus cover song and the re-release of their demo (which still was on cassette back in the day) make this a nice release, especially for the collectors among us. Now unleash the new and long-awaited/anticipated full length guys!
