A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Wampyrinacht or night of the vampire is a Black Metal project/band formed in 1995 by two musicians from the Greek music scene, multi-instrumentalist Necrolord and vocalist Vampire Priest Adept.

A demo, an EP, a full length album in 2017, a split effort with other Greek bands drew the attention of several record labels and now there’s ‘Night of the Desecration’ – a very sinster and occult Black Metal album, all nicely done and executed in the typical old 1990-ies tradition of the Greek bands, like older Rotting Christ, Necromantia or even Varathron. But also vintage Cradle Of Filth can be heard in their music.

The entire concept of this album is quite theatrical and filled with the appropriate atmospheres.  The band even uses female vocals to add more drama to their songs.  There are some doom parts added to sequences in the music – which remind of Tristitia, SepticFlesh or Nightfall. You can expect procession-like songs with lots of pathos and climaxes but also fast paced compositions.  What is striking is the fact that in every song plenty of room was left for the musical aspect.  So expect a lot of guitar solo’s and other instrumentalism. As a matter of fact there are 4 instrumental songs on the album.

The songs themselves are of high musical talent and flawless executed, everything sealed with a solid and top notch production.

In short: ‘Night of the Desecration’ is a very impressive album heavily rooted in the old Greek Black Metal tradition, still quite original though  and it gets a 10/10 score from me.

Check it out.
