A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

As far as I know, this is Vermin’s third album, and the first two albums sounded like ‘Left Hand Path II’ and ‘Left Hand Path III’ respectively. In other words, Entombed is the major influence for this Swedish band as well.

If they had simply made ‘Left Hand Path IV’, I would have loved it, considering Entombed themselves have strayed miles away from that sound, and there aren’t that many genuine Swedish Death Metal bands around anymore. But Vermin thought it was high time to blindly follow their example. What I’m hearing right now is ‘Shooting Straight… II’. Now, I found that Entombed album acceptable, but nothing more.

Vermin is doing its utmost to avoid being original. The best track is the last one, which also leans a bit more towards their old style. The most enjoyable thing about this CD is the film samples, and that’s not a good sign!

For people who spontaneously drool over the latest Entombed, this CD might be a good alternative; I’ll just use it as a coaster.
