A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Despite being active since back in 2006, Peruvian Blackened Thrashers Old Sacrifice have only now released their debut offering, a demo entitled ‘Conqueror’s Vengeance’ through Black Legion Records.

A fist pumping opener with a suitably old school sound, combining sleaze filled vocal work, fast shredding riffs and a superb drumming display, leading to slower groove drenched tones, technical guitar leads and rumbling bass. A right savage little slag of a track and no mistake. From there the band moves forward at a brisk and often chaotic pace, with a few sweet little dips into slower, more melodic waters along the way for the sheer hell of it. And let me tell you, when they go slow, the brooding darkness that oozes from the guitar leads is dangerous sounding! I’m loving the bass lead heading into ‘Unleashing the Hell’, combined with the simple rolling drum tones it’s a very groove way to start a track and continues onwards into harsher, more hard hitting tones. Easily the song of the demo for me. If you are a fan of South American Extreme Metal, or simple old school tunes caked in filth and alcohol and sleaze, this one is a must! (Luke Hayhurst)
