Not to be confused with Necromanteion from South Africa or Nekromantheon from Norway, what we’re dealing with here is Nekromanteion from Bolivia. Their most recent release ‘The Sinister Flame’ was originally released in late 2023 as a demo tape limited to 60 copies, after which the revered Iron Bonehead repressed another 150 copies on tape in early 2024. Long sold out, it is now down to Wolfkult Religion to add vinyl to the list of release formats.

It is not hard to see the desire to release this on vinyl as well. While there is no need to rephrase the extensive analysis that Felix S already outlined on these pages, it’s evident that the 12 minutes of material on this demo are utterly charming Metal of the Ancient sort. In the two songs presented here, the band mixes the likes of Sarcófago, Beherit, Blasphemy, Barathrum, early Rotting Christ and Samael into a bass heavy amalgam of Black and Death Metal with reverbed vocals. With an atmosphere coming from the straightforward riffs and regressive approach to music, this is a typical example of music where it’s all about the spirit and intent, without any pretense. A South American ode to the Ross Bay Cult and Hellenic Black Metal of the early 90’s, nothing more and nothing less. The tapes were sold out in a matter of days, so if you missed out, now is your chance to own this on physical format after all.
