A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Haha, I’m used to bio letters that are full of crap claiming what a great album a band has released. In the bio letter of Epoch Of Unlight the following statement is written: “At The Gates delivered the ‘Reign in blood’ of the 90’s, Epoch Of Unlight is here to probably unveil the ‘Hell awaits’ for the new millennium”. Another example: “This album delivers Oscar winning performances!

Fuck this big talk and let’s concentrate on the band.

Epoch Of Unlight play Death/Thash metal but with a twist. Try to imagine a mixture of The Crown (particularly their ‘Hell is Here’ album) and melodic influences from a band like Iron Maiden, that might give you a pretty good picture of this band. Fast songs with various melodic lead riffs. These guys know how to handle their instruments and they like to torment their instruments fast! The production is okay but good have been better. The sound of the lead guitar could be thicker and the drumsound clearer.

Death/Thrash metal fetishists will satisfy their craving with songs like ‘At the threshold of might’, ‘In the Absence of Light’ (fast fucker!), ‘The Last to Fall’, ‘The Hounds of Tindalos’ and ‘Caught in the Unlight’.

Overall, not a new genre classic but a fine album to add to your metal collection.
