Info

Montague, Massachusetts in the United States’ own Death Metalers Anthropophagous have returned in the year 2023 here with their brand new, second over all, full-length album in ‘Abuse Of A Corpse’. This extremely tight power trio, with newest member Maisie Kaiser taking over bass duties, have delivered yet another, but better, disgustingly killer platter of Death Metal in the only way that Anthropophagous know how.

And that way is; Old School Death Metal that pays homage and worships at the altar to Punk and Thrash, with a little bit of Doom thrown in for good measure. What happens to be the real roots that started this outstanding genre we all love. But there is also this sickly and almost disgusting (in all the right ways) feel to this album that I can’t quite figure out yet. Yet I don’t really care to, I would rather just sit back, put on my poncho and enjoy it.

‘Abuse Of A Corpse’ is chock full of all the best parts of Floridian Old School Death Metal but trimmed of any fat and grissle to get to all that goodness held within. Crushing, disgusting, catchy and memorable riffs drench this album is an ooze. While the bass and drums pound you mercilessly into the ground, while also contaminating  the whole with the same ooze. It’s thick and murky and downright awesome. So in the end really; It’s all killer and no filler. Recommended.
