A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

After a demo and a split with Odockh in 2018 and 2019, Talheim Records signed this Russian act to release their debut full-length ‘Enveloping Womb of Astringent Void’.

Absorption started as an Old School Death Metal band but subsequently the style shifted quite a bit. Still Death Metal, but more dark, brutal and dissonant, which results in an oppressing sounding Death Metal album that will not appeal to everyone who likes Death Metal. There is enough diversity in pace and there is a mix of brutality and a more dark melodic side of Absorption, ultimately it is a bit underwhelming. If this album was a dog, it would have a heavy bark but it wouldn’t bite.

But as we are a few years further now, maybe a new release will show an even more evolved Absorption that has found a good balance of it all.
