Chile and Death Metal, a pairing that over the years has gradually become a combination taken for granted. As with most bands hailing from those regions, modern trends are left behind in favour of embracing the 80s and 90s.
In the case of Unchurch, we linger in the 90s with their largely up-tempo blasphemous Death Metal. Combined with howling solos and a possessed vocal delivery coated in light reverb, an onslaught echoing of 90s Deicide, Morbid Angel, and Krisiun is fired at you in just under fifteen minutes.
‘Ode to Blasphemy’, serves a nice beginning for the career of Unchurch.
