Fanzines, you gotta love ‘em! The Australian Conscious Rot is one such publication, dedicated exclusively to Death Metal and its extreme subgenres.
Across twelve pages with a classic cut ‘n paste layout, Left Cross, Miasma of Occvlt Limbs, and Grotesque Bliss are interviewed, each receiving two full pages to voice their perspectives, which leads to three very interesting interviews. Alongside these, various demos, EPs, and albums are covered, featuring acts such as Sexmag, Cryptal Echoes, Necroferum, and Decrepit Altar in addition to Miasma of Occvlt Limbs and Grotesque Bliss. Simply put, the focus is unmistakably on underground releases.
In terms of content, it is thoroughly worthwhile and ideally sized for a train journey, a short stay in a waiting room, or just kicking back on the couch.
