The Boötes void is a region of space, hundreds of millions of light-years in diameter and containing very few galaxies, also known as a supervoid.

It’s also the name of a German Black Metal band who deliver their first full-length with this ‘C.O.L.D.’ album, a 7-track beast full of brutal Black Metal onslaught.

The monstrous riffs on this album are amazing: trancelike hypnotic, streaming and radiating throughout the entire album and there’s an enormous drive on all the songs. ‘C.O.L.D.’ offers shards of melody which are constantly drowned by the grim icy riffing of the guitars. The vitriolic vocals lash out like storm winds before being absorbed by the vortex of cold Black Metal. Think Mgla or even Marduk at their finest moments. It’s not that the band are at this level, but they manage to create enough atmosphere to leave a lasting impression…

Boötes Void don’t waste too much time on intros and outros or elaborate song structures: it’s all pretty straightforward, intense and with an infernal drive as mentioned earlier.

And it works; the band delivers a solid piece of work. Ketzer Records did good in signing them.
