A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Another gem from December 2022 that flew over my head, but I’m extremely glad it finally came into my attention!

Ordem Satânica from Portugal has been around since around 2014, and they’re definitely one of the most mysterious and intriguing acts under the banner of Signal Rex, and ‘Perpetuum Satanas’ is a great continuation for their legacy.

Musically speaking, the extremely echoing mix lends the album a distant and inquisitive feeling, like in each song you’re delving deeper into some forgotten cave and the voices of ghosts are looming in the surrounding blackness.

The drumming is another element that contributes heavily to build the malignant atmosphere that the album has. It’s drenched in reverb and it sounds more like a raging storm accompanied by icy and razorlike winds.

The vocals are like evocations coming straight out of the abyss. Wails and howls about grotesque and forbidden rituals. Check out the song “O sacrifício final (para Satan) and you’ll understand exactly what I mean.

Normally, I tend to refrain from writing reviews that border on the cliché, but Ordem Satânica couldn’t be described in any other way.

If you ever wondered what Black Metal played by ghosts would sound like, look no further than ‘Perpetuum Satanas’!
