Seven years after the debut album “Triumph of Antichrist”, Lugburz from Poland released their second album “Pure Misanthropy of Death”, filled with 8 tracks of pure Black Metal. Although the pace is fast in general, Lugburz manages to create some breaking passages which makes it melodic. The additional keys enhance the melodic atmosphere as well, still “Pure Misanthropy of Death” remains raw, like the 1990s Scandinavian scene. Not a groundbreaking release at all, nor will your blackened collection be incomplete without this album, but to call it “average” doesn’t do justice to “Pure Misanthropy of Death”. A Barad Dûr and Lugburz review in one issue, it is almost a Tolkien-special… (Ricardo)
