Rom is rising again! The Italians Hideous Divinity are stricking back with their 4th album “Simulacrum”, released through Century Media. After their critically acclaimed album “Adveniens”, Hideous Divinity go a step further with “Simulacrum”, showing a mixture of Nile-induced tech Death Metal paired with a more dissonant atmospheric approach seen from bands like Decapitated, Aosoth and the likes, making the album more modern (maybe also thanks to the in your face production) and in a way darker than in the past.

There is enough crawling chaos and blastmania for the fanatics, some memorable parts here and there but also, and that’s what I like about this album, some sections/songs which need more time to feel them entirely. The band goes deeper within, reconstructing their sound and maintained their core, showing more facets than before (I love the cover which fits the sound again). “Simulacrum” might be their most dynamic record so far and could be a possible guideline for their future releases. Modern Death Metal fans that like it brutal and still dynamic should check this out. (DPF)
