A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Started in 1992 by ex-Dark Angel guitarist Jim Durkin. For those who don’t know this band (you should be deeply ashamed) this was a very good, aggressive and underestimated Thrash band in the eighties, also with ‘Big Daddy’ Gene Hoglan on drums. Back to Dreams of Damnation…

Thrash is definitely making a comeback (the fact that I mention this quite often is because of the fact that I’m fully behind this!). So after this, what do you think Dreams Of Damnation plays?… Exactly: Thrash! Not Thrash you hear more nowadays, but more with the dark sphere that Dark Angel had (also partially ‘cause of the production) but then with a modern drive to it. Aggressive sounding Thrash with some nice artillery-attacks on the guitar! The more I listen to this, the more I start to appreciate this. Of course you can hear influences from Dark Angel back in their music, but what’d you expect? I also caught myself thinking that sometimes I heard a little (old(er) Sepultura here ‘n there.

Up-tempo, straight forward Thrash. Nothing renewing, just six fiendish tracks for those who like violence. Fact is that the level of Dark Angel isn’t reached at all and that the vocals aren’t suitable for this style of music.

See for yourself.
