Info

Finally, this album is out as it was announced a year and a half ago! Whether this is the swansong of this band, I don’t know. I’ve heard that they are supposed to be in the studio.

What does this CD contain? Well, it has 11 tracks, 4 of which come from their ’92 promo, 3 from their 7″ EP, 1 from their demo, 1 from a rehearsal tape, and 2 from a band called Satanized which was the precursor band to Dissection.

Most of the tracks are already known from their regular work, except for the 4 tracks from the demo, rehearsal tape, and from Satanized. The sound quality is quite rubbish, so I wouldn’t recommend buying this CD to get to know Dissection. If you’re a real fan of this band, I recommend listening to it first. I don’t want to claim that this CD is awful in any way, but you have to be able to tolerate listening to already familiar tracks in an older version with the accompanying sound quality.

Personally, I think it has a certain charm. However, the short duration of the album, around 35 minutes, makes me wonder why they didn’t include all the tracks from their demo and EP. Now I’m reminded of the Pungent Stench compilation with all their old work; they simply put all their old material on it, and that album lasted for 70 minutes.

Oh well, if Dissection really still exists and releases a killer new album, which is a bit more like their first CD, I’ll keep my complaining to myself!
