A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

After a rather good Demo and a couple of singles, we are finally getting, well as of 2021 that is, the debut full-length album from Old School Death Metal band Crypts. Hailing from Germany, this four piece act seems to keep their Deathly art much more rooted in the European form of Old School Death Metal. But that does not mean that these fine gents do not rule out adding a few touches here and there from inspirations from across the pond, so to say.

But what does that last sentence really mean? Well, it means that Crypts sound like they have a huge and foundational base of inspiration from bands such as the mighty Grave and the equally mighty but oft forgotten Fleshcrawl. But they still also add touches here and there from somewhat all over the Old School map as well. It is almost as if they pick and choose pieces from some of the best and all of our favorite Death Metal classics and add them here and there to proper effect upon a base that is very much European Death Metal.

With their debut full-length, Crypts have created another gem in the Old School Death Metal world. Melding pieces and parts from all over the map into one cohesive, killer work of Deathly art. ‘Coven Of The Dead’ is a rather solid, really damn good and very enjoyable Death ride that any fan of Death Metal will just so happen to enjoy in spades. Don’t miss out on this one.
