The veteran Black/Thrash outfit Alastor released ‘The Unholy Hordes’, featuring new vocalist Lex Thunder, who shows off his skills immediately in a Nicko McBrain fashion.
High screams are fired at you right away on this seventh full-length, which otherwise offers typical Thrash vocals mixed with Heavy Metal elements. Music wise you have to think of early Slayer, Venom and Celtic Frost, with some Heavy Metal harmonies thrown in. It’s that style, only a bit more polished, though the vocals might be a hit or miss for you.
‘The Unholy Hordes’ is not an album that will significantly break new ground.
