Info

A debut album that was released this month on LP and CD; ‘Fumes of Funeral Pyres’ by Finnish Death Metal band Tramalizer who hail from Pieksämäki, has been released by Soulseller Records and comes on the back of a demo and two single releases. Featuring two members of Black Metal band Marras, I’d be tempted to call Tramalizer something of a side project to explore T. Oranen (Bass) and M. Jokelainen’s (Guitars) more Death Metal tendencies!

Having listened to this album a couple of times it is clearly more than an opus for letting off some Death Metal steam! The phrase riff-fest springs to mind as Tramalizer open up their war chest and bring out the big guns; violent biting riffs that have a crisp directness to them throughout, backed up by thundering bass and groove drenched percussion, and topped off with some wild and technical guitar solos. This is an album that will appeal not only to Death Metal fans, but guitarists everywhere! Overall ‘Fumes of Funeral Pyres’ doesn’t re-invent any Death Metal wheels. Instead if batters and pulverises like any solid Death Metal album should, but with a massive amount of groove dripping from its bones!
