Info

Repugnator are a 4-piece ensemble coming from the second most populous city of Portugal, Porto.

Repugnator’s ‘Foul Transfixation’ debut is an eighteen-minute blasphemous and bestial landslide that strips away fluff for raw Black/Death energy.

It’s full of relentless riffing and cavernous atmosphere but a few more moments of creative variation would have elevated the EP above its peers. It’s nothing new. Not at all. But this is first of all Blackened Art, as dirty and hateful as it only can be, with some touches of filthy Death Metal.

Possessed vocals spew as if released from hell’s abyss, they are deliciously evil and growled at the lowest register, the bass is delivered with a bowel corroding rumble, the guitars are wildly erratic, whilst the drums are possessed and beat insane rhythms. Aaargh – You got to love the sluggish pummeling drum sound!

Overall, it’s a solid if somewhat familiar entry in extreme metal’s underground. Repugnator – what they do, they it very good.

It’s almost 18 minutes of fire and brimstone. Repugnator totally convince with this ‘Foul Transfixation’ EP and I hope a full-length will follow soon!
