A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Also being released by the German Medusa Productions, like Somber Serenity, Dead Emotions from München have spawned their first full-length with ‘Gates To The Unseen’. The album has been released in 1999 already, but Medusa Productions released the album in 2000 as well. Dead Emotions is currently working on their second effort, possibly with a second drummer (!).

To compare Dead Emotions with Somber Serenity, also from the southern region of Germany, Dead Emotions has more character and presents a more diverse piece of silicon with atmospheric Death Metal, mostly accompanied by keys. Mostly grunts, in German, with some occasional clean vocals overlay the guitar-oriented sound, that has been balanced pretty good. The keys have been mixed in low regarding volume, but this is not bad at all since they aren’t special enough to get too much attention in the Death Metal-based music.

The song structures on ‘Gates To The Unseen’ are not very complex, but entertaining and the riffs are not repeated too much which means the debut doesn’t become boring.

Dead Emotions deliver an impressive disc nevertheless.
