A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

The short-lived Death/Thrash combo Abhorred from the USA, released an EP back in 2007, which seems to be their last ever recorded material. Prior to this EP Abhorred can add a demo and a full-length called ‘Wallowing in Utter Chaos’ as their achievements within 2003 and 2007.

The EP never got a proper release as it was distributed on Myspace as mp3s and not long after that they disbanded. Fast forward to 2024; both Psalmodist Records and Gravemoss Records joined forces to re-release the EP on both cassette and CD.

The Death/Thrash presented is fierce because of its mostly up-tempo aggressive Thrash riffs and howling Slayer-alike solos. Along with the fitting raspy vocals and the early 90s Death/Thrash US influences, it gives the EP a nostalgic feeling, and a track like ‘The Stench of Victory’ is a good example of that.

One could debate if it is necessary to re-release this EP, considering its value or impact within the scene, on the other hand I consider it as an enjoyable thrashin’ EP.
