A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Den Saakaldte (also a song title from avant-garde band Ved Buens Ende) started out as a one man project of Sykelig and now he has found all star members (also active in 1349, Shining and Dodheimsgard) to complete the line-up. According the biography Den Saakaldte was sent out to express paranoia, depression and alcohol influenced thoughts. As if the world isn’t yet depressive enough, debut release “Øl, mørke og depresjon” in fact is more like a mini album, containing only three, rather lengthy, full songs. The rest of the “beer, darkness and depression”-album is ambient orientated music.

Den Saakaldte brings out the worst in man, musically in between older Scandinavian bands like Ulver and ofcourse also Shining. You can blame a lot on media whore Niklas Kvarforth, but his vocal presentation is outstanding here. It’s unbelievable the amount of sickness one man can produce. Whether it’s the trumpet in “Drikke ens Skøl”, the melodic sounding “Vandringen” or the long “Jag ar Den Fallna”, Den Saakaldte surely know how to bring darkness into music. Already I’m looking forward to their next full length!
